More than one H1 is valid HTML, and not a ranking penalty

Google has said repeatedly that it copes with several, so any tool that calls this an error is selling you a superstition. What it does cost is real, just not that: a heading outline is how a screen reader user navigates a page, and how anything parsing your content decides what belongs to what. A skipped level is a gap in that map.
