Leave priority and changefreq out

Google ignores both, and has said so plainly. This generator omits them rather than writing numbers that do nothing, because a file full of inert values is harder to read and invites you to tune something that has no effect. lastmod is different: Google uses it when it is honest, so set it only if it reflects a real change.

Where this file goes

Your own hosting: save it as a real file and reference it from robots.txt, which the robots.txt builder writes for you.

Blogger and WordPress: both generate a sitemap already, so you rarely need this one. It is here for a hand-built site, or for a list of pages your platform leaves out.

A sitemap suggests. It does not compel a crawler to fetch anything, and a URL listed here is not promised an index entry.
